A practical starting point
01 — Get ready
A good setup starts before you plug in.
Begin at Trezor.io/start by checking the address carefully. Avoid sponsored lookalike results, unsolicited direct messages, and links from strangers. Use a computer or mobile device you trust, with a stable internet connection, and keep your wallet nearby. If the device or packaging seems tampered with, pause and contact support through Trezor’s official website rather than trying to troubleshoot through a search result.
The setup experience guides you through installing or opening Trezor Suite, connecting your device, and following its on-screen prompts. The exact sequence can vary by device model and software version, so treat the instructions shown by the official app as the source of truth—not an old screenshot or a generic tutorial.
02 — Set up thoughtfully
Let your device lead each step.
Connect the wallet as directed and let the official software identify it. You may be prompted to install device firmware, create a new wallet, or recover an existing one. Read each confirmation on the device screen itself and make sure it matches what you intended to do on your computer. Choose a PIN if your model and setup flow offer one, and keep it private.
For a new wallet, your device will guide you through creating a recovery backup. Write the words down in the order presented, check them carefully, and store the backup somewhere private and protected from damage. Never photograph it, save it in cloud storage, paste it into notes, or share it with anyone. That backup can restore access if your device is lost or damaged, which also means anyone who obtains it could control the wallet.
03 — Make safety a habit
Your secret should stay yours.
A recovery seed is for restoring your wallet—not for “verification,” troubleshooting, or syncing. Never enter it into a website, chat, email, or computer prompt, even if the page looks polished or the person claims to be support. Trezor support will not ask you to disclose it. If a prompt asks for the words outside the device’s intended recovery process, stop and verify the instructions directly through official documentation.
Once setup is complete, take a moment to understand how receiving addresses and transaction confirmations work before moving meaningful funds. Start with an amount you are comfortable testing. Confirm addresses and transaction details on the hardware wallet screen, where supported, and keep firmware and Trezor Suite current using official sources.
04 — Continue with trusted sources
Use official help when details matter.
Device-specific steps can change as products and software evolve. For current instructions, follow the official Trezor Learn guides, and download or open Trezor Suite only through the links provided on Trezor’s Suite page. Check the domain yourself before continuing, especially if you arrived from a message or an unfamiliar search result.
A hardware wallet puts important choices in your hands. Take it one screen at a time, keep recovery information offline, and ask questions through verified support channels if something feels unexpected. Careful setup is not about rushing through a checklist; it is about understanding what each step does before you confirm it.
